Sydney International Artist Series

Destination NSW, the Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Contemporary Art are pleased to bring the world’s most outstanding exhibitions to Australia with the Sydney International Art Series 2011-12, a signature annual event on the NSW events calendar.

The Museum of Contemporary Art presents Rafael Lozano-Hemmer: Recorders between 16 December 2011 and 12 February 2012. This large-scale solo exhibition presents interactive pieces that involve the public as an integral part of the artwork.

As part of this series the Art Gallery of NSW is also hosting Picasso: masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris, the most significant exhibition of Picasso’s art ever held in Australia. The exhibition takes place from 12 November 2011 to 25 March 2012.

Both events are exclusive to the Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

This is the second year of the partnership. Last year’s exhibitions – The First Emperor at the Art Gallery of NSW and the MCA’s Annie Leibovitz: a photographer’s life 1990–2005 – were a big success with nearly 500,000 attendees.
